Use Translation Memory

Create, manage, and optimize your translation memory

← Back to Help Center

Create a Memory

  1. Log in to DeepL and go to the Customization Hub
  2. Select "Translation Memory" and click "New Memory"
  3. Set a name and language pair
  4. Choose a population method:
    • Upload TMX file: Standard translation memory exchange format, exported from other CAT tools
    • Import from translated files: Align source and target texts to automatically extract sentence pairs
    • Manually add entries: Enter entries one by one

Configure Threshold

Administrators can configure a minimum match threshold in the memory settings (recommended 75% or higher). Only sentences with a match score exceeding this threshold will automatically use the translation from the memory. Higher match scores provide greater translation quality assurance.

Manage Your Memory

  • Search and view existing entries
  • Edit or delete inaccurate entries
  • Export memory as TMX format
  • Batch update memory from translated files
  • Set memory sharing permissions (team/self only)

Use in Translator

When the translation memory feature is enabled, the system automatically detects match scores between input text and the memory. Matched sentences will display the match percentage next to them. You can select which memory to use in the translator settings.
